Hello, Happy New Year, and welcome to our new project, Warped Perspective… For those of you who have followed us over from our previous site, Brutal as Hell, then you may already see how and why we’ve chosen the new site name. Truth be told, it was co-founder and co-editor Ben Bussey who came up […]
By Keri O’Shea & Nia Edwards-Behi Keri: It’s no great surprise that Herschell Gordon Lewis, pioneer of so many infamous gore and exploitation movies, sustained another life as an advertising guru both before and after the 1960s heyday of his filmmaking career. In a number of ways, his films probably had a similar impact to […]
By Ben Bussey Up until this moment, BAH may have been the only horror-related site to have not published anything on the subject of Stranger Things. Plenty of Netflix original films and TV shows have become talking points, but few if any have made quite the same sensation as this 1980s-set drama which manages to […]
By Ben Bussey I don’t mean to be a killjoy, honestly I don’t. However, when I see the bulk of online horror fandom losing their shit over something I just can’t get fired up about, I feel like I need to voice the opposing view. If you’re among the excited ones, then good for you, honestly. […]
By Nia Edwards-Behi In cinemas soon, The Lighthouse is Chris Crow’s fourth feature as director, and his second feature collaboration with producer David Lloyd. Following Devil’s Bridge, Panic Button and The Darkest Day, The Lighthouse is a chamber piece, a psychological drama based on a real life event in Welsh maritime history. Chris and David […]
By Nia Edwards-Behi We all know I love Danger 5, the alt-history surrealist TV series by Dario Russo and David Ashby. Though there’s no sign of any more Danger 5 in the near future (I know, I’m sad too, but pastures new, and all that), the men collectively known as Dinosaur Worldwide have unleashed their […]
By Nia Edwards-Behi I’ve already had the pleasure of writing at length about one of my all-time favourite films for this website’s anniversary retrospective series, when in 2012 I wrote about The Last House on the Left’s 40th anniversary. Time goes on and now I’m very excited to have the pleasure of commemorating 45 years […]
By Keri O’Shea A couple of years ago, I was fortunate enough to catch a theatre performance which made a sizable impression on me; this was an adaptation of a lesser-known H P Lovecraft story, ‘The Temple’, and the writer & performer behind this one-man show was Michael Sabbaton. I reviewed the show at the […]
Interview by Keri O’Shea If you haven’t seen Deathgasm yet then, if I may, it’s time you climbed out from under that nice, safe rock of yours and ascended to the top of a towering crag (preferably where there are some obliging women in chainmail to cling to your legs, Manowar-style). It was one of […]
Interview conducted by Nia Edwards-Behi Axelle Carolyn is the mastermind behind the massive Tales of Halloween anthology film, soon to be unleashed by Epic Pictures. Big thanks to Axelle for taking the time to answer a few questions for us about the film! BAH: Anthology films are experiencing a bit of a comeback, in the […]
By Svetlana Fedotov It’s with a heavy heart and a tear in my eye that I announce that I am leaving Brutal as Hell. I have been offered a writing gig with Shock ‘til You Drop and will start writing for them, along with my weekly contribution to Fangoria’s website. I’ve had an unbelievable blast […]
