For those who are enamoured with the high octane fantasy of Conan but wish there were a few more sassy talking clouds, Adventure Time has filled that gap perfectly. Despite the animated TV series announcing an official end in 2018, there are plenty of adventures still left, and the creators have recently announced a new mini-series entitled Elements which comes with its own unique opening song.
The series will be following on the heels of the mini-series Islands in which (spoilers) Finn finds other humans on the far reaches of Ooo and finally meets a very important family member. In Elements, Finn returns from the islands only to find Ooo a whole lot worse than we he left it. The series will air April 24 to April 27, with a set-up episode titled Orbs, in which Finn, Jake, and BMO fall under the influence of a mysterious Orb, which will debut April 21. A Batgirl movie rumour has been making its rounds on the internet, and while the details are few and far between, what we have heard sounds pretty interesting. First off, Joss Whedon is said to be in talks to write, direct, and produce the live action film. The negotiations have been underway since February with DC Films co-owners Geoff Johns and Jon Berg, and the movie will most likely feature other prominent Gotham characters. There was a rumored early development of a Harley Quinn/Batgirl film with the tentative title Gotham City Sirens, but it is unknown if these two projects are related. It also has been reported that if the Batgirl project were to get off the ground, Whedon (who might or might not be attached) would most likely do the Gail Simone Batgirl run from the New 52 universe. This series was set several years after Alan Moore’s Killing Joke, with Barbara Gordon regaining the use of her legs. So prepare for all kinds of crazy! No word from DC, Whedon, or Warner Bros, so take all this with a grain of salt.
Finally, Marvel has announced a sequel to Deadpool Kills the Marvel Universe, entitled Deadpool Kills the Marvel Universe Again. Hoping that lightning strikes twice, Marvel execs are camping on the idea that if it worked once, it will work again! And with the immense success of the Deadpool movie, it just might. Though there is no announced plot, Marvel’s Editor-in-Chief Axel Alonso teases that perhaps he didn’t quite get everyone the first time around, and now someone wants revenge. No creative team has been attached yet. This news does come at a bit of surprise in the aftermath of the infamous Marvel Retail Summit event of 2017, where Marvels Vice President of Sales and Marketing David Gabriel stated (among many other things), “limited series is the death knell.” So, I guess we’ll see what happens.
